I'm Kate

I work with content and design, helping clients get their message across to the right audience, persuading them to act - whether that's getting in touch or buying a product.

In short, I help clients communicate effectively online. I'm a digital copywriter with a strong eye for visuals and usability.

I started my working career as a journalist before turning to the web. My writing was regularly published in a number of national consumer and trade magazines. It taught me:

  • how to 'spot the story' of a business and communicate it effectively,
  • how to identify an audience's needs and tailor design and content so it appeals to them,
  • and it gave me an 'editor's eye' for knowing what works.

On the web, that means identifying and planning effective content, creating great content and designing it so it's both compelling and concise. I help businesses build awareness and attract visitors from search engines, use content and design to improve conversion rates on websites, manage social media profiles and create and send email newsletters. I also train clients to do all this themselves.

Why I love what I do

I love getting to know clients and their businesses, learning about their particular audience and how to reach them. When I'm not working for clients, I'm always questioning what makes people engage with brands, both offline and online, and spend a lot of time researching customer experience. I love supporting clients with targeting their audience - whether it's earning them an extra sale, writing a press release or simply getting them a retweet. In fact, sometimes I get just as much pleasure from a client's record month as they do!

Aside from my content and design expertise, I think clients value me for how discerning I am. They know I have high standards, so they trust me to act on their behalf. That's especially valuable for anyone reaching out to consumers on the web, trying to build a brand.

My passions are food, drink, interiors, lifestyle and media - if you're into any of those, you probably couldn't be in better hands!

I once interviewed Gerard Depardieu - he talked about eating donkey!

Artist Jack Vettriano gave me with a packet of Love Hearts when I went to see him in 2005. I still have them.

While I'm a bit rusty, I speak Italian. I lived in Florence for year.
